Hi ... and thanks for stopping by for a visit! I've been blogging since September 2009 ... and although I had no idea what I was getting into, I love it! My blog is my online quilting journal where I write about my passion and keep connected with other kindred spirits.
I started quilting in 1999 after taking a class at a local quilt shop. I'd always admired quilts because of their comfort and warmth, but could never afford the ones I really liked. Although I'd been sewing since childhood, I never really enjoyed sewing clothes. No one in my family ever quilted but I figured if I could sew I could probably learn to quilt. So after picking up a quilting magazine, I read an article about a local quilt shop and decided to pay it a visit. I was intimidated at first ... I wandered about the store, admiring all the beautiful fabrics, and hearing other customers talk a whole new language: fat quarters, rotary cutters & mats, 1/4 inch seams ... what the heck are they talking about?
Fortunately for me, the store offered a free class for beginners to discuss all these new terms and gadgets. I was thrilled and after that first class, I never looked back! And so far I have inspired my daughter and a couple friends to also join me in quilting ... it's been a great venture!
And after 25 years working as a public servant, I finally retired in December 2008, which means I get to spend more time quilting ... and blogging, of course! I also love to read, watch movies, and spend time with my wonderful girlfriends.
My husband and I married in 1983, and we have two wonderful college-age sons. My daughter and grandchildren live in Tennessee so I don't get to see them as much as I'd like, but we stay connected by phone and computer. We also have 5 very spoiled pets that keep my busy! I am truly blessed!
