  Two more quilts completed from the stack of flimsy tops , ready for donation. Rail Fence Pattern Basket Weave Pattern The patterns for both quilts (and some of the other tops from the stack) are by Ursula Reikes.  I love her series of Quilts for Baby  books. This makes 9 quilts that I've finished from the stack which means I have 2 more left to complete.  But I actually have 4 UFO tops because my DD added two tops she made.  With the holidays upon us, I think these will have to wait until next year. I previously posted about a stack of quilt tops that have been patiently waiting to be finished since 2009!  A few months ago I started quilting the tops but didn't get around to binding them.  Last month, however, I finished four of them to give as gifts. These 3 tops were also quilted and they, too, are now bound.  Three more quilts for the finish! This pattern is called It's A Snap This is the Warm Wishes pattern BOUGHT THIS TOP ON EBAY.  DON'T KNOW THE PATTERN NAME. I still have four more flimsy tops to quilt and bind.  I hope I can get them finished by the end of the year. Remember, the best things in life are quilted!

Slash Your Stash Halloween Quilt Here’s another Halloween quilt that’s been on my to-do list forever.  Several years ago, my BFF Brenda made one for her DGD and I fell in love with it.  I already had a stash of Halloween fabrics but had to buy the book so I could make my own. Patterns for Quick and Easy Quilts This was such an easy and fun quilt to put together.  It’s a log-cabin design that uses 3-1/2” inch strips.  I started cutting and piecing on Sunday.  By Sunday evening, I had finished sewing all 36 blocks.  After my 13yo DGD helped me arrange the blocks, she wanted to make sure it was big enough to cover her, so she laid down on the blocks.  It’s much bigger than I originally thought, and it’s perfect for her 5’6” height! By Tuesday, I finished sewing the rows, and tomorrow I hope to sew on the borders.  DGD hopes I can finish it by Halloween; but, if not, she says she’ll sleep with the top until I can get ‘er done.  I guess I’d better get going! Happy Halloween Scrappy Stars Finally getting my quilting mojo back and this scrappy Halloween quilt is officially my first quilt for 2015.  It’s a work in progress (WIP) but I have finished making the star blocks – all 40 of them!  Yup, that’s enough for two quilts.   The pattern for this is from American Patchwork & Quilting October 2014. I know, I know, Halloween is less than 2 weeks away so have to really scramble to get one finished in time.  Then I need to work on two quilts I want to make for Christmas gifts.  Yikes, time is flying by way too fast! Isaiah and His H-Block Quilt Israel and His H-Block Quilt Nathan and His Warm Wishes Quilt After so many years away from quilting, I’m on a roll now with three more finishes!  That stack of unfinished tops came to the rescue one more time, in a big way. These three little guys are my BFF Vivian’s grandsons.  The two are fraternal twins and the one is a year older, but all celebrate their birthdays in October.  Another last-minute invitation prompted me to grab 3 of the tops, which made it possible for me to finish the 3 quilts in time for their party earlier this afternoon. (Sorry for the poor picture quality. I took the quilt pictures with my phone in the store parking lot.  It was a windy day and the only spot I could find with less wind was by the truck door near a tree.  I wish I'd remembered to take pictures while still at home.) First finished quilt of 2015 I can’t believe the quilt pictured above is the first quilt I have finished since 2010.  It is one of the quilt tops I mentioned in my  previous post  and is the second one in the stack.  I must confess that I did not actually make the quilt top, but bought it on eBay with the intention of finishing and donating it to charity. I suppose it’s a good thing I never got around to finishing any of these tops – which are destined for charity – because then I would not have been able to create a last-minute special gift for my friend’s granddaughter, who was baptized last week.   Luckily, I'd already started quilting the stack of tops, and I chose this one for Ariana.  I finished binding and labeling the quilt that Saturday morning.  As you can see, she was one happy l

Life is full of surprises with many highs and lows. In June my DGS came to live with me and was  accepted into a fast-track high school program at the local community college.  He also started working part-time at a nearby fast-food restaurant.   Then in July, my DD and 2 DGDs also moved in with us.  But last month DGS decided he'd rather live in Texas and moved back.  As disappointed as I was, I knew it was something he had to do.  Besides, I still had DD and DGDs with me! This has been the biggest change in my life and I am thrilled to have them back in California.  It’s been 10 years since they moved out-of-state.  DD works long hours, and DGDs and I have been spending as much time together as we can, getting to know one another. Not sure if anyone is still checking my blog, but if anyone is still out there, hello!  After 5 years of being away, I’ve decided it’s time to come back.  I just thought I'd pop in to let you know I'm still alive and post an update about what's going on in my life. Life is full of changes, with many highs and lows.  And, let’s just say, I took a leave of absence from quilting and blogging to focus on my eBay business which supplements my retirement income.  However, last year we were able to refinance and that means my life no longer revolves around eBay.   I posted  here  about this stack of quilt tops I finished in 2010 but remained as UFOs, until now.  I've slowly but surely started working on them and have quilted a few.  They don't have binding so they're still UFOs.   A couple weeks ago I flew to Texas to my DGD's high school graduation.  I was so happy to see the first of my grandchildren graduate high school.  She is also in
